As we are about to kick off the Memorial, Doug has decided that he’s had enough of Mitchell’s Steakhouse. One bad meal and Keith Mitchell is gone. Stepping in will be JJ Spaun.
The Tigers/Guardians battle
As I mentioned before, the Tigers usually seem to lose to the Indians/Guardians in their head to head play. And sure enough, the Tigers lost their first three games to the Guadians. At first, I felt the need to trash the Tigers but passed on it feeling they’d been through enough. But is saying nothing even more painful? I wasn’t sure what to do. But Sunday, in the 4th game of their series, the Tigers won! I know I felt relieved! So I guess a mini-congratulations is in order as Doug’s lead over Dave runs at about 9 games.
Colonial changes nothing on your FGL Leaderboard
Ben Griffin wins. Yes - I had him earlier in the year. He wouldn’t even return my calls. It just wasn’t working. So good for you Ben. Now be done for the rest of the season.
Scottie didn’t win. And only made the cut by one shot. That’s shocking news. Oh of course he still finished top 10.
Mrs. Commissioner and I had a lovely day in Louisville. 23rd year of BeatleFest with 5 stages and probably 50 bands over the long weekend. Those lads from Liverpool. I think they’re going to make it big someday.
Grab your stuff, we're headed to Dublin
Jack’s Memorial Tournament is celebrating 50 years of immaculate golf. (Except for the one year he messed with the sand bunker rakes and ticked off all the golfers)
As expected, with this being our 3rd Major, a strong field is expected. A couple interesting no-shows:
- Will Zaltoris. Withdrew last week and not playing this week. Did he mess up his back again?
- Jason Doris Day. Like many golfers, he has many homes. But one is still in Westerville. Even at his worst, I figured he’d always have a sponsor exemption here. But sorry Big J. I don’t know why but he’s not playing.
- The biggest surprise comes from Manager Jim’s camp. Rory stepped back from PGA spokesperson work, promised to spend more time with family, won the Master’s, moved back to Ireland and has now decided to skip Jack’s show. Is Manager Jim leaving the door slightly open for the rest of us to make up some ground? That’s a confident manager that allows vacation leave to his top player.
Will any manager have a 40+ type of week in Dublin? Seems like it’s been building for a manager to break out. Can Scottie get some support from his team? Will a B-level player break out and surprise us all? Perhaps maybe even Nick Dunlap? OK - that’s getting a bit crazy. But know I’ll be out in official Commissioner duties at the tournament doing what I do best. Once I figure it out.
There will be a cut. Top 50 & ties plus anyone within 10 strokes of the lead.

Dave bounces back!
With Scottie on your team, it’s hard to be down for long. B.T.O. Is back in 2nd place on your FGL leaderbaord with a net 18 points putting him in 2nd place but still 20 points behind our leader Jim.
Jim didn’t do much of anything with only 6 points. Thank you Jim!
Your Major side bet winner was Manager Kevin with 20 points including two top 10 finishers.
With the new Pope, I thought I’d look to my chimney for some divine inspiration. I found none. My top scorer Poston bogeyed is last two holes to give away 2nd place. And my most expensive guys, Alberg and Don Henley, both missed the cut - again.
Big J shocked the FGL world by scoring ZERO points this past weekend. Even his boy Shane Lowery got a bit ticked off. So many complaints about mud balls. Come on guys, I’ve got a simple solution. I just walk into the woods, find a ball, claim that it’s mine, shine it up and gently place it back in the fairway. Simple!
Had a wonderful opportunity to get out Sunday afternoon. First golf outing since my slice & dice operation and the weather was perfect. A couple good shots, several terrible shots and most somewhere in between. And such a privilege to play with the Legend!
And as for Mrs. Commissioner, she has now finished three of her six chemo treatments. And with that, everyday is a new adventure. A good day now has a new definition. She’s battling through it - and still has time to be Grandma.
Memorial in two weeks. But first, a few of us go to Texas for the Schwab (where Scottie will probably win again)
Manager Golfers expected to play
Kevin Wyndham Hotels, Tom Kim, Milton Bradley, Maverick McNealy
Jaustin Akshay Bhatia

Commish J.T. Poston, Daniel HamBerger
Tigers move to dominate Guardians
Detroit is leading their division by 4 games over the Indians/Guardians. That means Doug is up 9 games! I never saw that coming. And this week, (Thurs, Fri, Sat) they will meet head to head in Detroit. Rumors are that Doug is putting his foot down. Tigers normally don’t play against Cleveland very well. Doug is determined to change that.
Tragedy strikes Doug’s team
Theegala won’t be able to play the PGA Championship. Well at least, not Thursday and Friday. And so Doug feels in order to lead his team, he must make a change. Theegala is out. Gone. Doug isn’t even paying for the airfare to send him home. But stepping in is a hot golfer; Mr. Keith Mitchell’s Steakhouse!
More changes to Team Jaustin
Former manager Lauren was supposed to deliver another potential FGL manager by May 5th. Didn’t happen. That’s not a good thing to do to pregnant women. But late on the night of May 9th, it all happened. For some of you, you just might remember where you were on 5/9 10 years ago. That was Team Laustin’s wedding. What a party that was. But now it’s become a birthday. This young lad was 8 pounds, 9 ounces, 22 inches long and already three years old! Baby, mom and dad are all doing well and got home Sunday afternoon. Big brother Julian seemed more excited about his new toy and playing with Uncle Brandon at the firehouse. (Videos below golf write-up). And finally, the much anticipated name of this dark-haired cute boy is Henrik “Henry” John Schenk.
Jim just keeps marching on.
Can you believe he scored 16 points? Three guys finished top 10; including JT who snuck into 2nd place with Shane Lowry’s 18th hole bogey. Jim continues to lead the FGL as we move onto the PGA Championship.
Big J is back in 2nd place with 12 points with your Commissioner just a few points back from him. Straka’s win certainly helped! Dave’s time in 2nd place was brief as he slides back down to 4th place.
Doug lost a guy to injury Sunday. Theegala had a boo-boo in his neck and had to withdraw. Doug and Kevin continue to battle it out in the Battle of the Bames with only 1 point separating them.
I’m already hearing that Rory is going to win next week. Sure - Jim’s guy. Hopefully this is some sort of hex!

Big J forced to make line-up change
Billy Horschel. A blue collar, grinding, Big J type of player. Alas, he has hurt his hip. I would still think he could chip and putt. But Big J has pulled the plug on Horschel. Got him scheduled for surgery. Coming back off the Waiver list to fill in will be Matthieu Pavon.
As was predicted in prophecy.....
Well not exactly. Scheffler won by a mile but Spieth did not finish in 2nd place but rather 4th. But he shot a final round 62 which is quite impressive. Great week for B.T.O. as he climbs the leaderboard and is now in 2nd place. Yes - you read that correctly! Happy Birthday Dave - enjoy it while it lasts.
In other news, Collin Morikawa has split with his longtime caddie JJ Jakovac. Joe Greiner will be his caddie moving forward. This is big news within the Morikawa-camp but what I find shocking is that his manager Big J was never even consulted about this.
Truist Championship is up next. NO CUT! It was at Quail Hollow in NC last year but I don’t remember it. In Philadelphia this year. Big FGL field expected.

Tigers maintain their edge
Commish wins!
A little known rule (so little that it’s not even written) is that if a rainbow is over your house, you automatically win the Tommy O Award!
However, I’m willing to pass and let the season move forward.
Oh the pain
I hit shank after shank after shank this Sunday night at TopGolf. Made me kind of wish the Polaris Ampitheater was there instead. Those were the days!
Not much happens in New Orleans - with regard to the FGL
B.T.O. and your Commish inched just a little closer but no one really did much of anything.
Not expecting much to happen this next weekend either. It’s the Byron Nelson. Remember when that was a big tournament with Lord Byron sitting in a big chair off #18? I guess with the way this tournament lands now, it’s mostly a week off for FGL golfers unless they are from Texas.
And with that in mind, should be a great week for B.T.O. Scottie and Spieth are playing; should be 17 points.
Manager Golfers expected to play
Kevin Tom Kim
Jaustin Byeong Hun An, Will Zalatoris
PAK-Mon Sungjae Im, Nick Dunlap,
B.T.O. Scottie, Jordan Spieth, Henrik Norlander
Doug Eric Cole
Jim Beau Hossler, Max McGreevy

Those crazy kids in IT
Hanging with an elephant in Thailand
Jim has another good week
In a week where there was NO cut, you needed guys to finish top 10 to make up any ground. And Jim did that best of all with 16 points. Last week I bet that Justin Thomas would miss the cut. I guess he took that personal as he went on to win the Heritage in a playoff this week.
On Sunday I watched the grandsons searching through an Easter egg hunt. I started to have seizures. At first, I couldn’t understand why. And then I realized I was having similar flashbacks to what typically happens when I tee off. I get stuck in the woods scavenging for my golf ball!
Jim and Big J continue to lead the way on your FGL leaderboard. Let’s see if a trip to New Orleans changes any of that.
